Governor Paterson's Statement
"Long before John was appointed to Chair this commission, he was known as an outspoken and effective advocate for ethics reform through his service as chair of numerous state commissions including the Commission to Promote Public Confidence in Judicial Elections, the Commission on Government Integrity which helped shape the 1987 Ethics in Government Act, and as a court-appointed Judicial Referee in the case of Campaign for Fiscal Equity v. New York State. He also served with distinction as one of our country's outstanding labor lawyers and labor law professors and as Dean of Fordham Law School," said Governor Paterson. "For decades, John has worked to advance issues related to social justice for which he has received numerous well-deserved awards and accolades which is why it is so fitting that he is the Founding Director of the Feerick Center for Social Justice at Fordham Law School. I want to thank John for his extraordinary service to the people of New York, especially in his most recent role as Chairman of the New York State Commission on Public Integrity. I wish him enormous continued success at Fordham Law School and good health for many years to come."
