JCOPE TO HOST ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS FOR LOBBYISTS, CLIENT FILERS AND COMPLIANCE OFFICERS STARTING THIS MONTH

The Joint Commission on Public Ethics ("JCOPE") will be hosting informal roundtable discussions for lobbyists, client filers and compliance officers on a variety of topics starting this month. The first roundtable discussions will be on the new Source of Funding and Reportable Business Relationship disclosure requirements and will be held on March 8th in Albany and March 15th in New York City. The roundtable discussions are not training sessions. Rather, they are opportunities for the regulated community to meet with JCOPE staff to discuss any issues relating to compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines, and their experience with the Commission.

Space will be limited at the discussions and seating is reserved for registered lobbyists, client filers and compliance officers who are currently affiliated with lobbyists and/or client filers. After each event, information about the roundtable, including the attendees and general topics discussed, will be posted on the JCOPE website.

Those interested in attending any of these roundtable discussions should, by March 6th, send a message of interest via email to jcope@jcope.ny.gov and include the word "Roundtable" in the subject line. Any emails should include the name of the person wishing to attend, their affiliation, contact telephone numbers, any specific topics they are most interested in discussing and the preferred location (Albany or New York City) they would want to attend. Those who do express interest will be contacted by JCOPE staff to confirm attendance.

JCOPE will work to accommodate as many as possible at the roundtables and will consider additional dates based on responses.

The Albany roundtable discussion will run from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on March 8th in the Commission's ground floor meeting room at 540 Broadway. The New York City roundtable will be on March 15th, time and location to be announced.
